We will be in the Greenville area soon. Is there a local place that has great seafood, and isn't too pricey? Also, could you recommend a nice place to stay? - Pam, Mishawaka, Ind.
Enjoy your visit to
Greenville, Pam. It’s a great city with lots going on downtown and excellent restaurants.
I could only come up with a couple of places that are strictly seafood restaurants. One is
Rick Erwin’s Nantucket Grill, a fine-dining establishment featuring such delicacies as lobster, black grouper and ahi tuna. Most entrée prices begin at $30.
Another choice would be
Harbor Inn Seafood, a regional chain with restaurants in Greenville and Columbia as well as North Carolina and Augusta, Ga. The Greenville location is at 321 Haywood Road. I haven’t eaten at Harbor Inn, but the menu is extensive and the prices are very reasonable, with most entrees priced from $10 to $15.
But you don’t have to go to a seafood restaurant to enjoy great food. For example, at
Soby’s, you can order delicious shrimp and grits, crab cakes or grilled salmon, and those entrees are only $22. The Lazy Paella at
The Lazy Goat is a dish of calamari, royal red shrimp, mussels, with chorizo, rice and sweet peas for $22.
One thing nice about staying in Greenville is that you can choose a downtown hotel and walk to almost everything. The
Hampton Inn and Suites is on Main Street at the Reedy River. Also on Main are the
Hyatt and
Westin Poinsett.
