Enjoy your visit to Greenville, Pam. It’s a great city with lots going on downtown and excellent restaurants.

I could only come up with a couple of places that are strictly seafood restaurants. One is Rick Erwin’s Nantucket Grill, a fine-dining establishment featuring such delicacies as lobster, black grouper and ahi tuna. Most entrée prices begin at $30.

Another choice would be Harbor Inn Seafood, a regional chain with restaurants in Greenville and Columbia as well as North Carolina and Augusta, Ga. The Greenville location is at 321 Haywood Road. I haven’t eaten at Harbor Inn, but the menu is extensive and the prices are very reasonable, with most entrees priced from $10 to $15.

But you don’t have to go to a seafood restaurant to enjoy great food. For example, at Soby’s, you can order delicious shrimp and grits, crab cakes or grilled salmon, and those entrees are only $22. The Lazy Paella at The Lazy Goat is a dish of calamari, royal red shrimp, mussels, with chorizo, rice and sweet peas for $22.

One thing nice about staying in Greenville is that you can choose a downtown hotel and walk to almost everything. The Hampton Inn and Suites is on Main Street at the Reedy River. Also on Main are the Hyatt and Westin Poinsett.

Perhaps it was Zorba’s Greek Restaurant? Zorba’s is near Irmo and is a favorite spot for pizza and other Greek specialties. That’s my best guess, since Eric later told me that it was in a strip mall.

Other possibilities could be Grecian Gardens in West Columbia; or Greek Boys downtown Columbia or Devine Foods on Devine Street.

Fran, several South Carolina restaurants have been featured on Food Network’s Diners, Drive-ins and Dives. 

In January and February (2012), episodes aired on four Charleston restaurants: Fuel, the Glass Onion, the Tattoed Moose and the Early Bird Diner. 

Other South Carolina restaurants Fieri has visited include Harold’s in Gaffney, Pawleys Front Porch in Columbia, Perfectly Frank’s in Summerville, The Beacon Drive-In in Spartanburg and The Farmer’s Shed in Lexington.

The Glass Onion episode, Long Standing Legacies, will also re-air on April 21 and 22.

The Tattooed Moose was featured on the episode Meat Madness, and it will re-air May 21-22. The restaurant’s duck confit recipe is on the Food Network site.

No re-airing date is shown for the episode on The Early Bird Diner, Multi-taskers. Food Network has posted the restaurant’s recipe for deep fried pork chops with sweet and spicy red pepper jelly.

There are several restaurants near Table Rock in Pickens you might want to try, including Aunt Sue’s Country Corner. Check out Upcountry South Carolina for dining recommendations, as well as suggestions for other things to do in the area.

You also would be close enough to drive to Greenville, where there are many great dining choices. Some great ones are Lazy Goat, Soby’s and Soby’s on the Side, Devereaux’s, American Grocery, High Cotton, Nantucket Seafood Grill and Rick Erwin’s West End Grille.

One Sumter restaurant that I am dying to try is Hampton’s. The chef is Raffaele Dall’Erta, and you can see a question-and-answer interview with him here. Chef Dall’Erta describes the food he serves as fine cuisine with a Southern accent and Italian flair.
